So, it turned out that 2015 was a pretty bang up year! The RPR pilots and crew reflect on this past year and spend a lot of time talking about the year ahead in movies! Talking points include Star Wars (again), Travel Advice, and unexpectedly great videogames of 2015. We also predict the future and let you know what movies are going to be great in the coming year. This extra long episode is our late gift to you, to chase those post holiday doldrums away!

A new saga begins in a galaxy far far away, but does it hold up? Do we have a rebirth of the original trilogy, or the failure of the prequels? Perhaps it’s something in between? Perhaps… There’s another! The pilots gather with RPR listener Kaitlyn to discuss the new movie now that we’ve all had the chance to see it. Tell us in the comments what you think!

This week the pilots (Plus RPR Bloggess Allayne) finish the month of October by discussing horror movies. We talk about what we’ve been watching, what our favorite halloween movies, and dive into the particulars of Japanese horror. See below for a preview of some of the chills you can expect to be discussed within. Next week we’ll be starting a new side podcast that runs every other week opposite of RPR called Harry Punch Radio. Within, the pilots (and a guest host every week) will read through the Harry Potter series beginning to end, coming back as adults after years away. Tune in to find out if you can ever come home again.

Don’t forget there’s just one week left to help James, Samantha, Allayne, and Kurt with their Extra-Life drive benefiting the Children’s Miracle Network. You can donate here, just click on the roster and choose the team member you want to donate to.

This week the pilots are joined by Rocket Punch Blogger Kurt. We talk about trick or treating and costuming memories, the Iron Giant, and how Nick Cage is objectively less scary than John Travolta. Don’t forget to rate us on iTunes and Tunein, or tell your friends about how super-great we are. It helps us reach a wider audience. The picture above is courtesy of Rocket Punch listener Rob and shows baby Kevin Smith with a lawn gnome. Awesome. As a side note, we apologize for the quality of the recording this week. There was some technical issues. James tried to smoothe it out as much as he could.

Also, please donate even just a couple of bucks to our Extra Life fund. We’re working hard to raise money to help kids fight

life threatening diseases.

This week the pilots discuss the internet viewing that you should be watching but probably are not watching. The rules are simple: Can it be found (legally) online? If so, then it’s fair game.

So where did your favorite show rate on the Lucy Scale? I guess you’ll have to listen to find out.

The Pilots convene (minus Samantha who is still enjoying her trip to Japan) to talk about the media they’ve been consuming lately. Join us this week to talk about the things we’ve thought were cool lately. Feel free to let us know what you’ve been reading/playing/watching either in the comments or on Twitter @rocketpunchRDO! Paul Feig Has a Few Words for the Hatters

92eae862b4d964e5e253c0aefb6cfe0f-d4nw738

Via The Verge

Director Paul Feig (Freaks and Geeks, Undeclared) had a few choice words this week for the typical comment-section crowd regarding the new female-led Ghostbusters cinematic universe:

‘The only way I could ruin your childhood is if I got into a time machine and went back and made you an orphan.’

In other news, Rocket Punch Radio is reporting record sales of burn cream for the week of March 9th, 2015. We here would also like to politely ask the Internet to Hakuna their Tatas. This is not the first time the Boys in Grey have seen help from the other gender. In the cartoon and the comics, Janine Melnitz strapped on the unlicensed nuclear accelerator (likely because Bustin’ made her feel good). Likewise in the comics, and later cartoons we had Kylie Griffin, and in the comics alone there was Detective Ortiz.

And of course, we also had the Female Player Character available in the PS2 and Wii version of Ghostbusters: The Video Game doin’ it before it was cool. I don’t blame you for not believing me. No one bought those versions (and for good reason. They were a buggy mess, despite the nice visual aesthetic). But just take down below, where you can find her slugging it away with a pretty pesky poltergeist.
